Boulder, Colorado-based Spectra Logic, a manufacturer of data storage devices, revealed Monday that the National Geographic Society's broadcast division has deployed one of its tape backup systems. Spectra Logic said National Geographic Global Media is also utilizing its Media Lifecycle Management and Auto Drive Clean software applications. The financial impact of the customer win was not disclosed. According to Spectra Logic, the client has implemented a Spectra T950 tape backup, which boasts more than 6,000 tape slots and will allow the customer to back up all of its high-resolution digital content. The archive will also store backup copies of low-resolution proxy data for long-term access, Spectra Logic said.
