Denver-based Sorrento Networks, which develops optical networking hardware, disclosed today that the firm has signed a customer in Australia. According to Sorrento, Hostworks, an application managed service provider, will use the firm's GigaMux 3200 metro optical transport equipment. The new install will be used to provide storage area networking connectivity for an undisclosed, major public sector customer. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Sorrento's optical networking products will connect Hostworks data center with a custom, across the city, via dark fiber. That network will provide both 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 4 Gb Fibre Channel connections.
