Level 3 to Serve Crackle with Internet, Collocation
Broadband Internet access and collocation services provider Level 3 Communications announced Wednesday that Crackle Inc. has selected Level 3's Content Markets Group to support that company's high-quality video delivery service. The financial impact of the multi-year deal was not disclosed. Level 3 said it will provide Crackle with various, behind-the-scenes networking services, including high-speed Internet access via multiple 10-gigabits-per-second ports and collocation services. This, Level 3 explained, should improve the speed and reliability of Crackle's video network. Crackle is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, and delivers programmed and customized video streams across Sony devices, IPTV and social networking web sites. Level 3 Communications is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado.
