Networking and security service provider Virtela Communications Inc. has launched a new service that aims to assist corporations in maintaining order and reliability in the event of a worldwide pandemic, the company revealed earlier this week. Known as the Pandemic Readiness Solution, Virtela claims its new product will allow customers to maintain profitability by scaling network capacity to accommodate influxes in remote access without the need to over-engineer existing networks. Many government agencies, such as the U.S. Center for Disease Control, outline the need for "social distancing" in the event of a disease breakout. This could displace as much as 40 percent of a company's workforce, thus resulting in a greater demand for remote network access. Virtela Communications is headquartered in Denver, Colo.
