Waymo In Major Self Driving Test Expansion In Phoenix
Waymo, the self driving car developer which was spun out of Google's self driving car efforts, said today that it has started running self driving car tests in Phoenix. According to Waymo, it has been letting a "handful" of Phoenix residents ride around in its fleet of self driving vehicles, full time. Waymo said it is now taking applications from Phoenix residents interested in participating in the trial, where its cars are used to drive users to work, take kids to school, and even take those users to things like soccer practice and choir rehearsal. Waymo said that expansion will add 500 more self-driving, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans in its early rider program, on top of an existing 100 minivans it put on the roads earlier this year.
