VidAngel Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Provo, Utah-based streaming film and TV provider VidAngel has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company said Wednesday evening, which will help it stave off an ongoing federal lawsuit against the company. According to VidAngel, the filing allows it to "pause our lawsuit" with Disney and other plaintiffs in California, and is "good news for VidAngel" and its filtering. VidAngel provides censored and edited versions of Hollywood films and television shows, removing language, nudity, violence, and other content. VidAngel said the filing is "simply a reorganization and part of our legal and business strategy" and will allow it to continue to operate. VidAngel has been battling Hollywood studios over what the studios say was illegal use of their content.
