Techstars Buys Startup Weekend Organizer UP Global

Boulder-based startup accelerator operator Techstars is in a major expansion of its programs today, announcing that it has acquired UP Global, which operates the Startup Weekend, Startup Week, Startup Next and Startup Digest programs. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Techstars said that Startup Weekend actually started out of its basement in Boulder back in 2007. Techstars said it will continue to run the UP Global programs as they are now, and it also expects to expand them in the future. UP Global will continue to be led by Marc Nager, serving as Chief Community Officer.
