Sphero Teases Big Star Wars Product Announcement

Boulder-based Sphero, the robotic, smartphone-connected toy maker behind the BB-8 robot, appears to be planning a big Star Wars related product announcement on Friday. In an email to its existing customers and mailing list, Sphero indicated a big "Star Wars" announcement on September 1st, which it called "Force Friday". No other details of what that announcement might be. Since the breakout hit that was BB-8, Sphero has rolled out a number of other products with Disney, including a toy based on Pixar's Lightning McQueen and Marvel's Spider Man.
