GoDaddy CEO Irving Plans Retirement At End Of Year

Scottsdale, Arizona-based GoDaddy said on Tuesday that CEO Blake Irving will retire from the role of CEO on December 31st. GoDaddy said that Scott Wagner, the company's President and Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of CEO when Irving retires. Irving will continue to serve on GoDaddy's board through June of 2018, according to the company. Irving, in a statement, said it's "time to retire and begin the next phase of my life," after three decades in technology. Wagner became CFO and COO of GoDaddy in 2011, after serving at KKR as a partner for 13 years. GoDaddy is a major domain registrar and Internet services provider, providing hosting services and many other related products to small businesses, individuals, and others. Irving has been responsible for successfully transitioning GoDaddy from its prior image of an anything-goes, "wild west" domain company (complete with misogynist, banned Super Bowl commercials), to a small business focused, diversity-supporting, and woman-friendly brand, as a result of KKR's acquisition of GoDaddy in 2011.
