GoDaddy: No More Risque Super Bowl Ads
Scottsdale, Arizona-based GoDaddy--which has a new owner, and a new CEO--said today that it is planning its 10th year of Super Bowl ads, with one big difference: no risque ads. The company--which had once made risque Super Bowl ads its hallmark--was sold in 2011 to a group of private equity investors, which included KKR, Silver Lake, and Technology Crossover Ventures. The company is now led by Blake Irving, the former Chief Product Officer of Yahoo. GoDaddy said the move is part of an "overall transformation" which "speaks inclusively" to its customer base. The company is now focusing on small businesses and entrepreneurs.
