DigitalGlobe Wins Contract To Map All Of Australia's Buildings
Westminster, Colorado-based satellite imaging provider DigitalGlobe said this morning that it has won a contract, where it will map out all of the buildings on the entire continent of Australia. According to DigitalGlobe, the contract with PSMA Australia, which provides mapping and spacial data to Australia's federal, state and territory governments. The companies said the deal will map the man-made environment--including cataloging the physical attributes of more than 15 million structures across the continent of Australia--for a new product called Geoscape. The mapping effort will collect such information as building footprints and heights, rooftop materials, solar panels, and swimming pools based on DigitalGlobe's high resolution satellite imagery.
