Spectra Logic Gets Software Certification

Boulder, Colorado-based tape and long term storage products provider Spectra Logic said today that its Spectra Verde DPE product has been certified by a software provider developing video surveillance archiving tools. Spectra Logic said its storage products--which are based on Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR)--were certified with the Milestone XProtect archive database, which is used in the video surveillance market. Spectra Logic says its storage products offer up storage at $0.09 per gigabyte, which it says is 60 percent less than today's typical disk-based storage systems.
