MapQuest Turns To Apigee In Bid For Third Party Developers

Denver-based online mapping service MapQuest is hoping to draw more third party developers to use its service--instead of mapping APIs from such competitors as Google and Microsoft--by turning to API platform operator Apigee, the two said today. According to Apigee, it is helping MapQuest grow its developer community, and help build new offerings for consumers and enterprises. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Mapquest already offers up a mapping API to third party developers, with a range of free and paid options.
