Notion Turns To KickStarter To Raise $136K, And Counting

Boulder-based Notion--one of the startups in the current TechStars Boulder 2014 class--looks to have successfully parlayed its idea for a smart home sensor device into more than $136,000 on Kickstarter to bring its products to market. The startup--founded by Ryan Margoles and Brett Jurgens--has easily sped past their initial, $50,000 funding goal on the crowdfunding site, to bring its products to market. Notion is developing a sensor device--the "Notion" which can monitor things like water heater leaks, if a garage door is open or closed, if the lights are left on, and much more. The company says its device will send alerts directly to a user's phone, tablet, or computer, and can sense acceleration, water leaks, temperature, sound, natural frequency and much more.
