Microchip Technology Eyes UK Company

Chandler, Arizona-based semiconductor developer Microchip Technology said Thursday evening that it is in preliminary discussions to acquire CSR plc, a UK-based provider of AV< connectivity, and location technology. Financial details of the potential deal were not disclosed. Microchip said that it has worked in the past with CSR on a Blutooth module and other efforts. Microchip bought another Bluetooth products maker--Taiwanese firm ISSC--in May.
