Webroot Signals Strong Sales, Growth
Privately held cloud security software Webroot said this morning that it had "significant growth" in the fourth quarter, although the company did not release any financial details of that growth. The company said growth of its new cloud services grew by 173 percent, and new small and medium sized business accounts grew by 200 percent. The company also said sales in the consumer segment grew 36 percent, and mobile security by 134 percent. The company did not translate those growth numbers into actual revenues. Webroot has consistently been claiming big growth numbers in the past few quarters, but has yet to add any revenue detail to those pronouncements. Companies will someone talk about their growth to attract the attention of suitors or private equity investors, but it's unclear if that's what Webroot has in mind here.
