Orbotix Adds Augmented Reality SDK
Boulder-based Orbotix, the developer of the Sphero robotic ball, has released a new software development kit (SDK), the firm said this morning. Orbotix said it has released a new, augmented reality SDK, which it says will make it easier to build games for the Sphero. Orbotix said the new SDK has been released on open source repository Github, and that it has also added a new, Augmented Reality plug-in for Unity, the 3-D video game development engine. Sphero said the new SDK and plug-in handles all of the vision detection, coordination of the camera and ball position, distance, orientation and more, to help bridge between the Sphero's Android and iOS SDKs and Unity's software. The Sphero is already included in one, augmented reality game -- Sharky The Beaver.
