Orbotix Courts Developers With Sphero Hack Tour

Boulder-based Orbotix is hoping to attract a few more developers to develop apps for its robotic ball, saying yesterday that it is launching a Sphero Hack Tour which will pit developers in competitions to create applications for the Sphero. Orbotix, which is run by Paul Berberian, said the tour will include stops in Boulder, Austin, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, and New York, and award $12,00 to the best "hacks" in each city. Orbotix is still riding high from an impromptu demo of the Sphero by President Obama earlier this week, which apparently involved a concerted effort by two of the firm's employees to be in the right place, and the right time to intercept Obama during his Boulder stop.
