TechStars, Microsoft Offer $60K In Cloud Services To Startups
Boulder-based venture accelerator TechStars and software giant Microsoft have teamed together to give startups $60,000 worth of cloud services on Microsoft's cloud program, Windows Azure, the two said today. The two said the move--part of Microsoft's BizSpark outreach to startups--gives each of the TechStars startups $60,000 worth of time on Windows Azure. Microsoft's BizSpark program looks to steer startups towards Microsoft products, by offering them free and discounted tools and licenses. Microsoft has been pushing the program due to the tendency of startups to move towards less expensive, open source tools and stacks. TechStars and Microsoft did not detail any terms of the arrangement between them. TechStars runs a series of venture acceleration programs across the country.
