Silicon Valley Bank Plans IT, Operations Site In Tempe
One of the major banks serving the venture backed startup sector, Silicon Valley Bank, said this morning that it will be opening up a new IT and operations facility in Tempe during 2012. According to SVB, the new facility will create hundreds of well-paying, financial sectors jobs in the state over the next few years. The bank said it selected the Phoenix area, due to availability of financial candidates to fill positions, affordable living, proximity to its headquarters, and the number of technology and life science businesses in the region. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer said in a statement that "exactly the kind of company that Arizona is courting" due to its focus on the technology, clean-tech, life science and winery industries.
