ILX Lightwave Acquired By California Photonics Firm

ILX Lightwave, a developer of high performance, test and measurement equipment for laser diodes and other photonics equipment, has been acquired by California-based Newport Corporation. Newport said it paid $9.3M in cash for ILX, which is expected to have $8M in revenues in 2011. ILX provides photonics instrumentation, including laser diode controllers and drivers, temperature controllers, current sources, optical power and wavelength meters, semiconductor laser/LED burn-in, test and characterization systems, and fiber optic sources.
