Photobucket Sees Mobile Uploads Rise
Denver-based Photobucket said today that mobile video upload usage is rising, based on a survey conducted by the firm over the summer. Photobucket said that, based on information gathered from over 2,500 survey participants and its own usage data tracking its 100 million users, video uploads are increasing rapidly. The online photo and video sharing site said that it usage data shows that total video uploads are 3.5 times higher than last year (comparing July 2010 to July 2011). The site attributed the growing mobile video usage to increase in adoption of smartphones. The firm said that 45 percent of the respondents to its survey used a mobile device for capturing video at least once a week. Photobucket is now seeing almost 18 million monthly unique visitors on its mobile web and mobile apps. Photobucket is headed by Tom Munro.
