Utah Inventor, Entrepreneur Dies

Bill Jordan Pope, a Utah inventor and entrepreneur who was involved in synthetic diamond manufacturing, and founded three Utah companies, died Tuesday. Pope, who was 88, had been awarded the Utah Governor's Silver Medal Award for science and technology, and also was a chemical engineering professor and business mentor at Brigham Young University for 20 years. Pope was an executive at MegaDiamond, US Synthetic, and DiMicron, and had been given the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum's Entrepreneur of the Year Award, among many other honors. Service for Pope are being held today, Saturday, in Springvile, Utah.
