Sorenson Media Launches URL Shortener

Salt Lake City- and San Diego-based Sorenson Media said this morning that it has launched its own video URL shortener. The firm said that Vid.vu is a URL shortener specifically aimed at online videos, and is integrated into its own, Sorenson Squeeze Server product. URL shorteners are online sites which translate long, complex uniform resource locators (URLs) into very short, abbreviated links, and are used to make it easier for users to reach web pages. Sorenson said its shortener will only be available to users of Sorenson Squeeze Server, the firm's video encoding software.
