Footnote.com Bolster Slave Records Collection

Salt Lake City-based Footnote.com, the historical records site, said this morning that it has bolstered its interactive slave records collection, with a new collection of historical records from South Carolina. The firm said the new collection comes from the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, and includes estate inventories and bills of sale for Colonial and Charleston South Carolina from 1732 to 1872. The firm said the donation comes courtesy of a donation from FamilySearch International. Footnote.com provides historical documents and family records, which are used by people both researching history and genealogy. Footnote.com said that it is working with web site Lowcountry Africana, sponsored by the Magnolia Plantation Foundation of Charleston, South Carolina, on the effort.
