SCO Group In Another Major Legal Setback
Lindon, Utah-based SCO Group, the firm which has been waging a battle against Novell an dothers over copyrights to the Unix computer operating system, has been handed another major setback, as U.S. District Court Judge Ted Stewart yesterday refused to back SCO's claims, closing the case. SCO was looking for a new trial, and was asking the court to turn over copyrights for Unix from Novell to SCO. SCO has been battling the industry over Unix copyrights it claimed were infringed upon by the Linux operating system, since 2003. SCO had lost a suit in the District Court of Utah in March, when the Court said that that Novell owns the rights to Unix copyrights, which SCO had been using as part of its attack on the Linux operating system.
