Spectra Logic Adopts LTO-5

Boulder-based Spectra Logic, a developer of tape backup and other data storage products, said today that it has begun shipping its T-Series tape libraries with LTO-5 drives and media. LTO-5 expands the capacity of each tape cartridge to 1.5 TB, and a 140Mbps transer rate. Spectra Logic said the adoption of LTO-5 means its libraries can now scale from 15TB to 180 petabytes of native storage, and over 240Tb/hour of uncompressed throughput into the tape archive product.
