OPXBIO Appoints Engineering Director

Boulder-based OPX Biotechnologies announced today that the firm has appointed Hans Liao, Ph.D., as the firm's Director of Metabolic Engineering. The firm, which is developing biotechnology to convert renewable materials into biochemicals and biofuels, said that Liao has previously served at Synergen, Draths Corporation, Cargill Incorporated, and the University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center. Liao will be leading the firm's efforts on optimizing a biocatalyst for production of bioacrylics. OPX is venture backed by Mohr Davidow Ventures, Braemar Energy Ventures, Altira Group, and X/Seed Capital.
