Spectra Logic Adds Deduplication, HA

Boulder-based Spectra Logic has added a new de-duplication product, and also rolled out a high availability feature for its tape arrays today. The developer of data storage products said that its new nTier Deduplication appliance will provide disk-deduplication and remote site replication to tape, which decreases the amount of data that actually needs to be backed up onto tape. The firm's updated BlueScale storage management solution adds "hot spare", tracking usage of tape drives and robotics to help proactively prevent downtime, and other features for Spectra Logic's tape libraries.
