Ascent Solar Opens New Headquarters
Thornton, Colorado-based Ascent Solar Technologies, a developer of thin-film solar modules, is opening up a new factory and headquarters today in the Denver suburb of Thornton. According to Ascent Solar, the new location will house both its headquarters and up to 30 megawatts in capacity of manufacturing capacity. Ascent Solar is developing thin-film, flexible CIGS modules on plastic, which is targeted for adding solar into building materials. The firm said it is planning to add 180-200 jobs in the area over the next two years. The firm is cutting the ribbon on the plant today in a ceremony with Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr.
