Jabber Upgrades IM Software
Denver-based Jabber, Inc. said Wednesday that it has released the latest version fo the firm's Jabber XCP software, which is used for instant messaging. According to the firm, the latest release, version 5.4, adds a feature for broadcasting information to a specific person, greater security and authentication, and other upgrades. The "personal eventing" feature allows users to receive personal broadcasts, such as information about the current track playing on a music player, or information about new clients and devices on a network. Among a number of other upgrades, the company also said it now can integrate easily with Microsoft Active Directory, which is used for user authentication in Microsoft environments.
