LUCA Technologies Scores $3M
Golden, Colorado-based LUCA Technologies has received $3M from BASF Venture Capital America. BASF said last night that LUCA develops biotechnology that uses microorganisms to reactive or intesify the production of methane from finite fuels such as coal or oil. LUCA will use the funding to continue its research and development, along with testing in coal beds. LUCA's technology is based on genomics, molecular biology, and other biotechnology to classify and study microorganisms that metabolize oil, shale, and coal. LUCA was founded in 2001 and has 30 employees. More information »
