Boulder-based bandwidth and colocation provider
Zayo Group said on Friday morning that it is launching two, new long haul fiber routes, one from Columbus, Ohio to Ashburn, Virginia and another one from Dallas, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia. Zayo did not sa how much it will spend on the build out of the two new dark fiber networks. Zayo said the Columbus to Ashburn network adds approximately 400 route miles of high capacity fiber, with the new Dallas to Atlanta route adding 870 miles. Zayo's additional fiber will help connect the many data centers in Virginia, and will help provide a low latency route between Chicago and Ashburn. Zayo said that both Dallas and Atlanta are strategic markets for the company, because of their populations, data center operations, and Fortune 500 headquarters.
