FreeWave Extends To Offer Pi-Like Software Development Platform

, the developer of wireless networking hardware, is looking to extend its range of solutions into the software development area. According to FreeWave, it has rolled out a new "app server" platform which helps developer create third party apps for control and automation of remote sensors and devices in the field. The new ZumIQ App Server, according to the company, is similar to a Linux-based Raspberry Pi embedded in an industrial Ethernet radio, and combines a 900 Mhz wireless telemetry radio with an embedded, industrial computer.
