Webroot In Major Fiasco After Antivirus Hits Windows OS
Boulder-based Webroot is in a major fiasco on Tuesday, after the company's latest antivirus update mistakenly flagged core Windows systems files as malware--causing major issues for customers. Apparently, the company's daily malware signature update on Monday mistakenly put key Windows systems files into "quarantine", crippling those computers. Webroot says that a subsequent update has been provided which should return those PCs back into normal operation, however, the company warned that users should not ununinstall the product or delete the quarantine, as it will "make quarantined files unrecoverable".
