sPower, an independent renewable energy provider which owns and operates distributed electrical generation assets, reported today that it has signed a 105 megawatt, 20-year solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with a group in California. sPower said the deal is with MCE, a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program serving Marin County, Napa County and the cities of Benicia, El Cerrito, Lafayette, Richmond, San Pablo and Walnut Creek. Financial terms of the contract were not announced. sPower said the power for the PPA will be generated in Northern Los Angeles County, in Lancaster, California, and will involve the installation of more than 300,000 solar panels mounted on a single axis tracking system to capture the sun. The company said its has now deployed more than $2 billion of capital for its solar and wind projects. sPower was founded in 2012, and is led by Ryan Creamer; the company's Executive Chairman is Steve Creamer.
