The
Techstars Foundation said today that it has awarded five organizations with its first round of grants, to help improve diversity in technology. The group said that
Astia,
Patriot Boot Camp,
Defy Ventures,
Change Catalyst, and
Gaza Sky Geeks will all receive support and grants for their efforts. Astia is focused on helping women-led ventures around the world; Patriot Boot Camp is focused on helping military members start technology businesses; Defy Ventures helps people with criminal histories with entrepreneurship training; Change Catalyst promotes tech diversity through events, career fairs, consulting, and other efforts; and Gaza Sky Geeks is a co-working organization in Gaza, run by Mercy Corps. The five groups were selected from over 165 applicants for the grants.
