Limelight Networks Seeks Supreme Court Review Of Patent Ruling
Tempe, Arizona-based content delivery network provider
LimeLight Networks
says it has petitioned the Supreme Court of the United States, to review a reinstatement of a 2008 jury verdict, which found that Limelight infringed on a patent owned by competitor Akamai. Akamai won an appeal in August of 2015, in a case which awarded $45M to the company over the patent infringement. Limelight and Akamai have been in a protracted legal battle since 2008 over the patents. Limelight claims that the reinstatement ruling was done in a fashion "neither intended by Congress nor consistent with prior legal precedent."
