Star Wars Droid BB-8 Sells Out On Amazon.com, Two Week Wait Direct
Were you hoping to get one of those cool new Star Wars, BB-8 Droid robots from Boulder-based Sphero this week? Well, it looks like you are going to have to wait. Sphero says there is a two week expected ship date on the BB-8 on its e-commerce site, and Amazon.com has the BB-8 temporarily out of stock. Best Buy's online website says the BB-8 will also be available in two weeks. The cute, robotic robot--direct from the new Star Wars movie--was launched Friday at midnight, and costs $149.99. The BB-8 looks to be the widest launch ever for Sphero, due to the use of its robot in Star Wars; on eBay, Sphero droids were going for nearly $300 second-hand this morning, from sellers who apparently had rushed the stores at midnight for the robot.
