Micron Targeted For $23B Buyout By Chinese Firm
Boise, Idaho-based memory chip maker Micron is the target of a $23 billion acquisition bid, by Chinese-owned technology firm Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd., according to reports this morning. The reports cite "people familiar with the matter"--saying that the Chinese company hopes to make the offer for Micron on Wednesday. Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd. is owned by the Chinese state, via Tsinghua University. The report said it's unclear if the Chinese takover of Micron would pass muster through U.S. regulatory authorities.
