Boulder-based
Orbotix, the maker of the popular
Sphero robotic ball, has raised $15.5M more in funding. The funding came from Shea Ventures, Grishin Robotics, Foundry Group, and Highway 12 Ventures. The robot marker is in the midst of a
big expansion of its robot line, the first move beyond its initial Sphero robotic ball. Orbotix develops robots which are controlled via a user's smartphone, and also include open APIs which allow third party developers to remotely control a its robots--or use those robots as input to apps and games.
