Freewave Technologies, the developer of wireless networking and communications products, announced toda that it has launched a new, secure M2M wireless networking product. According to FreeWave, its new WavePoint platform is aimed at communicating industrial data over long distances, using secure wireless links. The new product is specifically aimed at providing broadband connectivity to remote locations. Pricing on the new product was not announced. FreeWvae said its WavePoint product supports multiple frequency bands, wireless IP routing, and support for industrial SCADA protocols, supporting up to four different wireless modules on the 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz ISM and U-NII bands, as well as 3G and Wi-Fi.
