It looks like 2012 was a great year for mergers and acquisition activity in Utah, according to local group the MountainWest Capital Network. The group--which keeps close tabs on deals in the state--said there was more than 110 M&A deals, totaling more than $10 billion in the state, and all time high. The deals were boosted by the acquisition of Vivint for $2 billion by Blackstone, the buy of Ancestry.com by Permira, the acquisition of MediConnect Global by Verisk, among many others. MWCN said the deals were up more than 62 percent over 2011. The MountainWest Capital Network is aimed at connecting dealmakers and entrepreneurs in Utah, and has been reporting on deals since 1995. The group is issuing its report on Thursday.
