A report released Thursday by the
Mountain West Capital Network (MWCN) tallies up $663M in investments in Utah during 2009, as the state saw 94 venture capital, angel, and seed stage deals, 31 mergers and acquisitions, and one public offering. The MWCN, which closely tracks Utah deal flow, said there were a total of 126 deals among Utah businesses, down from 2008, when there were 141 deals. However, venture capital investments were up from the $404M invested in 2008 in the state, although public offerings were down--with only one offering--compared to nine in 2008. In terms of mergers and acquisitions, the 31 deals there were slightly less than the 34 reported in 2008.
