TerraEchos, a developer of data analysis software for the security market, has raised $1.55M in a seed funding round, the company said this morning. The round for the firm was led by Flywheel Ventures, and also included strategic investors S&K Technologies and GCS Research. TerraEchos develops "big data" software for analyzing high volumes of text, voice, video, sensor, and other data for quick detection and response to threats. THe firm said its software is aimed at the US defense and intelligence communities, energy smart grids, nuclear facilities, pipeline networks, and other cyber-physical infrastructure. TerraEchos was founded by Alex Philp. The firm--one of the rare companies in Montana to score venture funding in recent years--has also received support from the State of Montana Big Sky Trust Fund.
