iArchives, the subsidiary of Ancestry.com which operates Footnote.com, said Tuesday that it has linked up with the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), to bolster its military records. iArchives said it will digitize 180,000 pension applications, or an estimated 7.2 million pages, from the War of 1812 Pension Applications and Bounty Land Warrants. iArchies said the multi-year effort will be available for free on the site, which is being funded by the FGS.
