Amkor: Minor Damage At Japanese Plant
Chandler, Arizona-based Amkor, a provider of semiconductor assembly and test services to semiconductor companies and electronics OEMs, reports that its operations in Japan are closed after suffering "relatively minor" damage from last week's earthquake. Amkor said that there were no reported injuries of the firm's employees. However, the firm did say that its Kitakami facility is currently closed, due to power supply disruption and other disruptions to infrastructure. Amkor said the facility generated approximately $10 to $11M in monthly sales prior to the earthquake, providing services to its Japanese customers.
