Control4, a developer of home automation products, said Wednesday that it has been chosen by an Ohio energy utility for a pilot, smart grid deployment. According to Control4, AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power, has selected the firm as part of a smart grid demonstration project in northeast centrol Ohio. control4's Energy Management System (EMS 100) will be deployed in a group of 1,000 customers. Control4's product will be used to monitor daily electric use and cost. AEP Ohio's smart grid project includes deploying 110,000 advanced energy meters.
