LifeLock, the provider of identity theft protection services, said today that over two million Americans have used the firm's services. The firm--which provides monitoring of credit reports--also said it has helped to stop more than 13,000 potential identity theft threats in 2010. LifeLock is venture backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Biltmore Ventures, Goldman Sachs, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers. The growth comes despite controversy at the firm, which has faced fines from FTC earlier this year over false advertising claims; lawsuits against the firm by credit rating agencies such as Experian; and issues with one of its co-founders a few years ago due to controversy of bankruptcy and identity theft claims.
