Sparkplug Communications, a provider of fixed wireless broadband services for businesses, has merged with fellow fixed wireless provider
Airband, which is based in Dallas. Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed. According to the firms, they will operate as Airband Communications. As part of the merger, the firms said they have raised $20M in funding in debt and equity. The $11M equity portion comes from prior backers Ignition Partners, Key Venture Partners, M/C Venture Partners and Trilogy Equity Partners, with $9M in debt financing coming from Silicon Valley Bank and MMV Financial. The new firm will be headquartered out of Dallas, with former Sparkplug CEO Michael Ruley taking the reins.
